Here you will get our new Bug Oak SaRaiFo board colored into black with a wilder structur. That wood is glued togehter with a lot of very thin sheets of veneers and gued togehter with very very high pressure, and sawn into boards! Material is sustainable poplar, but with a higher density +/- 700-800kg/m3. Rough cut measurments, surfaces are still a bit rough but one side is preplaned, thickness could vary +/-0,5mm, widths is between 21-21,5cm, without any oil/way/varnish the wood looks very colorless and very clear - on 1-2 pics we wet the wood to see the aproxx the dark black color after finishing it with oil, varnish, wax ect. dry - Humidity is about +/- 13%, 2 beven edges, the ends are protected with a green wood seal/varnish against splits, sometime on one side are some green spots - but the wood/boards should still be sanded to have a better and smooth surface. You will get one piece. Measurements are minimum and maximum. *SaRaiFo = Save the Rainforest!

When you process this wood or a veneer from it, you help to relieve some pressure on tropical tree populations and thereby protect them. This SaRaiFo Wood can be used as an ebony substitute. By buying SaRaiFo products you can make your own personal contribution! SaRaiFo Wood veneers and solid woods are made from rotary cut veneer of very fast growing wood species (usually ajous, poplar, lime). The veneers are freed from wood defects and glued/compressed/pressed into a solid block in many different optimized production steps. Afterwards, our designer veneers or solid wood are sliced and sawn in a special process.

Advantages of these SaRaiFo wood products:

What exactly is SaRaiFo?

SaRaiFo are sustainable designer wood products made from wood material that is cut or sliced into planks, solid wood, sawn veneers and thin noble veneers. SaRaiFo offers modern and environmentally conscious wood solutions that are made from rapidly renewable real wood. This makes it possible to authentically reproduce endangered tropical wood species - so convincingly that even experienced craftsmen such as carpenters or joiners can hardly tell the difference from the original. And the special thing about it is that this innovative production process not only allows lifelike reproductions, but also the development of completely new, imaginative wood grains - for limitless creative design possibilities.

How is SaRaiFo produced?

The production of SaRaiFo wood veneers and solid wood is based on the processing of rotary-cut veneers from fast-growing wood species such as poplar, lime or ajous. These veneers are first carefully cleaned of wood defects and repaired if necessary. Depending on the desired design, the veneers are then colored. In a multi-stage process, they are then glued into a solid block, compressed and pressed into a defined shape under pressure. In the next step, these shaped blocks are turned into high-quality designer veneers made from real wood using a special cutting process. To produce SaRaiFo solid wood, the large, compressed block is simply sawn into sawn timber. This even creates natural, curved wood structures and a look reminiscent of real growth rings on the end grain surfaces.

Questions about shipping & ordering

How long does shipping take?

As soon as we receive the payment and the system checks it, we usually ship immediately within 1-3 working days* and hand over the parcel to the shipping service provider (e.g. DPD). The parcel delivery time is up to DPD and can vary between 1-5 working days in Germany.

However, 90% of parcels usually arrive in Germany within 1-2 days of dispatch. Abroad (AT+CH usually 2-6 days). After handing over to DPD you will always automatically receive an email with the tracking number of the parcel (mail can also end up in spam - please check and track!).

*Except during company vacations such as Easter, Christmas and summer vacation!

Which shipping service provider do we use to send the parcels?

Our current partner is DPD. In addition, solid wood can usually only be sent as bulky parcels which DHL does not accept. Veneers and reasonably rectangular boards can also be sent with DHL for a small surcharge (currently only possible with payment by bank transfer!). Soon we will also offer DHL Shippings for international and only veneer orders.

How are the veneers, some of which are very long, shipped?

All veneers are almost always rolled up in paper and shipped securely in a smal sturdy 2-wall shipping carton.

How are solid wood and boards shipped?

Sawn timber, solid wood, sawn veneer, boards and various planks are wrapped in double-wall cardboard and secured at the ends. Root wood and brittle wood is additionally secured with boards.

Can several items be sent together in one package?

Yes, this is basically possible! Many individual sheets of veneer can be rolled up and shipped together without any problems. Even with solid wood, several planks and pieces of wood can usually be packed into a package and combined. However, there is a weight limit. The maximum weight per parcel is approx. 29-30 kg including packaging material. If goods weighing more than 30 kg are ordered, additional shipping costs will be incurred and the order will be split into two or more packages.

Exception & note: Veneers and solid wood cannot be sent together and must always be sent separately in two parcels. For this reason, shipping costs will be charged twice in this case.

Are the goods on display online available for immediate delivery?

All products that are available and can be seen online are available immediately after receipt of payment. If a product is no longer in stock, it will be removed from the store.

How much are the shipping costs?

The shipping costs according to weight can be found in the overview at the bottom of the page. You can always see the actual shipping costs for your order live after each change directly in the shopping cart before placing the order.

What happens to the parcel when I am not at home?

The parcel must be tracked online using the tracking number. As a rule, we always ship immediately. If no one is at home, it is usually left with a neighbor or delivered directly to a nearby parcel store! If the parcel is not collected within 7 days, the parcel will be returned to us and additional costs will be incurred for the return shipment and reshipment. It is the customer's responsibility to prevent and monitor this.

Many different items were purchased - but only one part was delivered, why?

We pack the order in sequence. Sometimes 1 parcel has already been handed over to DPD and the rest still has to be packed, e.g. if DPD picks up early. Or several parcels end up on different DPD trucks - then the parcels arrive with a delay.

To which countries do you deliver?

We ship worldwide to almost all countries in the world. We can ship international shipments outside the EU with DHL or UPS even if the country of delivery is not automatically displayed in the store. Please ask for the shipping costs by mail before buying.

How can I track my shipment?

Immediately after packing, a shipping confirmation with the tracking number and link is automatically sent - this can often end up in the spam folder - please take this into account and check. The tracking number is also entered online in the customer account.

Is there a minimum order value for shipping?

No, there is no minimum order value at Designholz - all customers, both private and commercial, can order from us.

Can I change my delivery address after placing my order?

If the parcel has not yet been packed, the label has not yet been printed and the shipping service provider has not yet collected the parcel - it is still possible. But please always act quickly and it is best to call and clarify this directly. It is often too late - if we ship on the same day but only read the mails after a delay. Unfortunately, we cannot accept any responsibility for incorrect deliveries.

Can I also have my order delivered to a Parcelshop?

DPD does not deliver to standard DHL packing stations. But you can choose any Parcel Shop adress next to you. If necessary, we can also send veneers by DHL for a small surcharge when ordering by bank transfer. Solid wood usually just with DPD possible.

Can I pick up my order in person?

Yes, by arrangement the order can also be collected in person directly from the warehouse (south of Hamburg-Germany) or from the Hamburg-City office. It is best to clarify and agree everything in a telephone conversation.

Can I choose express delivery?

Express delivery is currently only possible by individual arrangement. Must usually be discussed and clarified the day before or approx. by 10 am. UPS/DHL shipping and only possible for veneers.
